Holy Week 2020

The past three weeks have been the most unique time of ministry that I have ever experienced. I have been forced to find new ways to do ministry that I never thought I would be doing. I have learned how to lead a virtual Bible study online, learn how to stream worship services online, and preach to an empty room! God has been stretching me and growing me in ways so I can do my best to lead us in this time of social distancing.

As we move forward over the next few weeks, I pray that you will join me in the following:

  • Continue to pray daily for what is happening in our country and around the world. I have added the 7-day prayer guide supplied by Lifeway to the church website’s home page. Let’s join together each day at 6:30pm this week and pray for what is happening around the globe.
  • Continue to live generous lives. As grocery stores continue to struggle supplying certain paper products and food items, I ask that we would all live generously. If you have extra items in your home, I would ask that you consider donating some of the most sought after items to the church’s food pantry. We will use this supply to help get resources to those whose supplies are running low. If you would like to drop off resources, please contact either Pastor Ryan or Tom Trujillo.
  • Continue to seek God. This week as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s resurrection, we enter a time of celebration and remembering what Christ did for us. Even though we are separated through social distancing, I would like to encourage you to be a part of the “special” services we will be having this week. Invite friends. Host watch parties. Let’s get the word out that Heart of Mesa is still alive and well!

  • Continue to be the church. One thing that I believe God is teaching all of us through this time of social distancing is that the church is where God’s people are. While we typically gather in a building and celebrate together on Sunday mornings, the church is not about the building. This time of social distancing helps us be more connected to the needs of our community. We should take full advantage of loving those around us and sharing the hope that we have in Christ.
